Barney is about 8 years old and weighs about 40 pounds. Barney the beagle is a happy, tail-wagging kind of guy. The only time his tail is still is if hes sleeping, which he does with relish. But dont let that fool you. Once he is awake, he is ready for anything and everything. He is very attentive especially where a treat or an ear scratch is concerned. He will select balls and bones to play with from the toy basket and likes to collect them in one place. Initially he did not appear interested in going out in the snow, but now he bounds and hops with joy and begs to go for a walk. He is able to do a two mile turn at a medium pace, nose to the ground for the most part, unless he spies a squirrel, of course. He will mosey along if allowed but will also gladly move along if asked. He has worked up to 4 and a half miles and although he takes a snooze afterward, he is ready for action again after his nap. He has an amazing amount of energy which is not evident at adoption events. He loves to snuggle on the couch and loves attention from his humans in the form of pets and belly rubs. He is crate-trained and rides well in the car. Barney would probably enjoy having a fenced-in yard and another playful canine companion in the house, although he can be particular about his dog friends.
